Mission briefing

About this route

At Akershus Fortress, there is an old tale about Count Christian Rantzau, a commander who died under mysterious circumstances. He was known for his religious faith and his ability to lead with an iron fist. After his death, it is said that his hymn singing can still be heard from the fortress tower on quiet nights. But what if the song isn't just a singing ghost? What if it hides a secret? An old book found in the fortress's archives suggests that Rantzau left something more behind: A coded message in the hymn he constantly sings. Rumor has it that the message leads to a hidden truth he never had the chance to reveal. You must now collect 12 letters, one for each task you solve. Together, these letters will form a secret password that will show you the way to the 13th and final secret location. Now it is your task to solve the mystery before time runs out – and before his song goes silent forever. (The story in this game may contain elements that are fictional, altered, or relocated).

The Emperor's Secret

The city is in flames. As the townspeople flee through the streets, relief ships from Germany arrive almost immediately — sent by Emperor Wilhelm II. Officially he came to help, but more than 100 years later a discovery is made in an old Jugend building (Ålesund's Art Nouveau style): a hidden suitcase filled with letters, symbols and notes from a historian who vanished without a trace. In the notes, one sentence is written again and again: “The Emperor did not come to save the city.” Now you must follow the trail through Ålesund and find the truth that has been hidden since the night the city burned. The story is partly fictional in order to create a narrative thread.

The Commandant's Escape

Welcome to the Old Town in Fredrikstad! You are about to embark on a historical journey that will test both your observational skills and logical sense. This route is approximately 2 km long and will take you around 90 minutes to complete. But remember: This is not a race against the clock! We actively encourage you not to rush. Feel free to take breaks along the way to enjoy a lunch, an ice cream, or a good coffee at one of the city's many cozy cafes. Throughout the game, you must collect letters to find the secret exit. For each correct answer, you receive one letter for the password. Keep an eye on the question counter at the top of the screen (e.g., "1/19") to see how far you have come. Sharpen your wits – the adventure awaits!
