Mission briefing

About this route

The Old Town lies quietly around you. But between 1940 and 1945, the city was not peaceful. It was a city at war. During restoration work, a diary was found. The diary belonged to Edgar, who turned 14 when the war started. He was not a soldier, he was not a leader. He was one of those nobody noticed, and that is precisely why he was given tasks. In the diary, he wrote down what he saw and what he felt, but between the pages, he hid something else. A plan. but the final message was never completed. In the diary, he wrote down what he saw in the streets where you are standing now - Soldiers on the square, queues for food, and people who suddenly disappeared. This is where you come in. You will follow Edgar's tracks through the Old Town. The answers are found either in excerpts from the diary or by looking around the city. For each puzzle you solve, you get a letter. Eventually, the letters form a code word that reveals the last message. See the city as Edgar saw it. Find the tracks he left behind, and complete the mission he never completed. Good luck!

The Emperor's Secret

The city is in flames. As the townspeople flee through the streets, relief ships from Germany arrive almost immediately — sent by Emperor Wilhelm II. Officially he came to help, but more than 100 years later a discovery is made in an old Jugend building (Ålesund's Art Nouveau style): a hidden suitcase filled with letters, symbols and notes from a historian who vanished without a trace. In the notes, one sentence is written again and again: “The Emperor did not come to save the city.” Now you must follow the trail through Ålesund and find the truth that has been hidden since the night the city burned. The story is partly fictional in order to create a narrative thread.
