The Last Report

There was nothing unusual about the assignment. Henrik Voss, a 34-year-old field geologist with the Geological Survey of Norway, arrived in Geiranger on 3 June 1974 with two suitcases, surveying equipment, and a new notebook. The assignment was simple: Map the mountain movements at Åknes. Take measurements. Write a report. Come home. He never came home. On 14 August 1974, Voss was gone. His room was tidy. His equipment was left behind. The notebook was nowhere to be found. The police concluded it was an accident. The file was closed. Three weeks ago, renovation work was carried out on the old ferry berth in Geiranger. In a crack in the wall – behind a brick that had clearly been loosened and put back – the workers found an oilskin package. Inside: Voss's notebook. Intact after 50 years. Now it's in your hands.
